There exist several eLearning tools, with varying functionality and purpose. We think that in the coming years we will see many developments and possibilities in the eLearning tools research field. Relatively recent developments that will have a significant impact on eLearning tools are the development of standards for specifying educational material, and the development of methods for constructing component-based architectures and systems.
